TRANSITION READINESS

Alternate Assessment
Career Work Experience Certification (CWEC)
CWEC is a course of study for students participating in the Kentucky Alternate Assessment in high school. CWEC courses use the Employability and Foundational Academic Standards for Alternate Assessment (EFAS-AA), and are benchmarked are tested using the Employability Skills Attainment Record (ESAR) when the student is in 12th grade. The decision to participate in the career readiness track is typically made by the Admissions and Release Committee (ARC) during the students 8th grade transition meeting. It is encouraged that all students are enrolled in the CWEC courses to the degree possible and appropriate. Most Students should be pursuing this tract to transition readiness. Instruction in the progressions to transition readiness should begin in Primary (K-2) through High School (9-14+).
